McDonald’s has revealed plans to create 1,000 new jobs in Ireland over the next four years, supported by a €40 million investment.
This announcement follows the release of the company’s new Social and Economic Impact Report, which shows that McDonald’s supported 11,640 jobs in Ireland and contributed €414.6 million to the Irish economy in 2023.
“We’re excited to announce a €40 million investment in our Irish restaurant operations, which will create 1,000 new jobs in Ireland over the next four years,” said Alistair Macrow, CEO of McDonald’s UK and Ireland. “This is a time to celebrate our achievements and to look forward to what’s next.”
The report, compiled by independent consultancy Lichfields, also reveals that of the 11,640 jobs McDonald’s supports in Ireland, 8,880 are directly employed by the company and its franchisees.
In addition, it highlights that over the past five years (2018-2023), McDonald’s has invested €41.6 million in expanding and enhancing its restaurant network in Ireland, including new locations and restaurant refurbishments.
“We take great pride in the jobs we create across Ireland, both directly and indirectly, and we are committed to offering our team members a platform to develop and succeed in their careers,” said Elaine Sterio, McDonald’s Ireland franchisee. “Our staff benefit from practical training, skills development, and opportunities for career progression, supported by personal development pathways that help them reach their full potential.”
Since opening its first restaurant on Grafton Street, Dublin, in 1977, McDonald’s has expanded to 95 locations in Ireland, all operated by 19 local franchisees
